LIQUID POLYBUTADIENES

POLYVEST®

With POLYVEST® we offer a range of stereospecific, low viscous and unsaponifiable liquid polybutadienes with different chemical compositions.

liquid polybutadienes from Evonik

With POLYVEST® we offer a range of stereospecific, low viscous and unsaponifiable liquid polybutadienes with different chemical compositions.

Based on their characteristic microstructure, all POLYVEST® grades exhibit excellent reactivity and can be used for a broad variety of applications, e.g. in the automotive, construction and electronics industry.

The unsaturated polymer backbone of our liquid polybutadienes offers the opportunity for various crosslinking options, like sulfur curing and oxidative drying. Our functionalized POLYVEST® grades provide further options for crosslinking and additional benefits.

Markets & Apllications for our liquid polybutadienes

AUTOMOTIVE

POLYVEST® is used in adhesives and sealants for head lamps, sound damper and body & paint shop applications. Additionally, our liquid polybutadiene is added to green tire formulations as reactive plasticizer and substitute for TDAE oil.

CONSTRUCTION

POLYVEST® grades are used in secondary sealants for window glazing, in binder of dusty and dry quartz sand as well as in binder for soil stabilization. Moreover, POLYVEST® can be added as modifier to silicone sealants.

Electronics

POLYVEST® can be used as binder in PU formulations regarding electrical insulation and potting compounds. POLYVEST® MA can substitute isocyanates and act as isocyanate-free hardener.

Printing and inks

POLYVEST® is employed as reactive plasticizer for flexo printing plates and as pigment wetting agent for offset printing inks.

Rubber

POLYVEST® is used as a binder for recycled rubber compounds, modifier in carbon black filled EPDM compounds and as plasticizer in rubber compounds.

Plastics

In the plastics industry, POLYVEST® acts as additive for PU foams, either as cell opener or as release agents.

Aerospace

POLYVEST® HT-A is used as a binder in solid rocket propellants. The liquid polybutadiene reacts with isocyanates to form the necessary urethane network.

Sustainability & POLYVEST® liquid polybutadienes

We have a strong focus on sustainability – both regarding our products (Footprint) but also the applications they are used in (Handprint).

Footprint

The following POLYVEST® grades are available as POLYVEST® eCO:

  • POLYVEST® eCO 110 Bio
  • POLYVEST® eCO 130 Bio
  • POLYVEST® eCO 130 S Bio
  • POLYVEST® eCO MA 75 Bio
  • POLYVEST® eCO HT Bio
  • POLYVEST® eCO ST-E 60 Bio

For improving the footprint, we use raw materials from alternative sources and offer a drop-in solution with a lower carbon footprint. More about our sustainable POLYVEST® eCO for adhesive and sealant applications.
